The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources reported today that there were 11 hunting accidents across the state in 2019, including two that resulted in deaths.

The year 2020, however, started badly when hunter Kim Drawdy and his 9-year old daughter were mistaken for deer on New Years day and accidentally shot by other hunters.  Both father and daughter died at the scene.

David Strickland, founder of the Carolina Wildlife Syndicate, blamed poor safety practices. “We live in a hunting culture,” he said. “Gun safety is something that absolutely needs to be ingrained in the public education system.”
