In Tampa, Florida, 17-year old Ivan Johnson died today after being shot with a BB fired from a pellet gun by an eight-year old friend while they were waiting for the younger boy’s father in the father’s car.  The BB struck Ivan in the eye.  He was taken to a hospital before dying three days after the incident.

According to police, the father had left the gun in the back seat while using an ATM machine.  The eight-year old grabbed the gun and fired one shot. “We hope that he definitely is responsible for what he’s done,” Ivan’s dad said. “Even though it was an 8-year-old child that pulled the trigger, I think a responsible parent would have put the gun somewhere else and not in the backseat.”
